eBags.com is fully owned and operated by eBags, Inc. It is primarily an ecommerce website created back in 1998. The company is based in Greenwood Village, Colorado and has offices in Richmond, Virginia as well as Cambridge, UK. eBags.com is an online retailer featuring handbags, backpacks, urban bags, luggage, business cases, and travel accessories. It sells over 350 brands. The company also owns 6pm.com previously Shoedini.com which is a high-end e-commerce website selling shoes and bags. eBags Inc. also operates websites CaseLogic.com and Tumi.com for its partners.

The company was founded by five individuals, four of whom were former Samsonite employees. These 4 were: Peter Cobb, Frank Steed, Jon Nordmark and Andy Youngs. The website started business in March 1999 and initially offered 7 brands that include Samsonite, JanSport, as well as Skyway Luggage. The company’s focus soon turned from luggage to handbags especially designer handbags after 9/11 which affected sales growth in a negatively way. In the same time period, many specialty stores based in the real world were forced to close down. The company thus started selling handbags, purses, sport bags, business cases and backpacks. The company ships bags directly from the manufacturer to the consumers and thus does not build an inventory. Currently eBags, Inc. owns and operates four websites:

Company Launching Occasions

In March 1999, eBags.com was launched followed by the launch of Tumi.com in October 2002. In October 2004 eBags, Inc. launched eBags.co.uk to get its hands in the UK handbags market. This was soon followed by the launch of Tumi UK and CaseLogic.com the nest year. In 2006 the company launched Tumi Germany and Tumi Japan.
